What is a bronzer?

Bronzer is a cosmetic liquid or powder applied to the skin to give it color or shine, typically to give the appearance of a suntan.

Using either a contour brush or a rounded face brush to apply just under the cheek bones, then blend upwards onto the cheeks. You can also apply bronzer along the temple and top of your forehead to give a sun kissed glow. Pick your correct shade- you want something that is just 2-3 shades darker than your skin.

However, bronzer should actually be used to give your face a tan-like glow. Because it's a warm colour, and often has some shimmer in it, it can make your face look warmer and tanner instead of pale and porcelain.

How do you know what kind of bronzer to get?

The Best Bronzer for Your Skin Tone. The next step is the tricky part: choosing a shade. As a general rule of thumb, select a shade that is one to two shades darker than your natural skin tone. For example, if you have very fair skin, your bronzer need not be any darker than light-medium.

Do you put bronzer on before blush?

Sometimes bronzer is not enough and you can apply blush to give your face additional color. Pick out a blush that goes with a tan glow, such as a peach, pink or coral shade. You can use the same brush as you used for the bronzer.

How to apply bronzer

Step One: Bronzer goes on after face makeup (foundation, concealer, and powder) but before blush. You can use any type of brush you like. My personal preference is a brush with soft, short bristles so I can control my placement.

Step Two: Using a sweeping motion, you're going to imagine that you're drawing a number 3 on your face. Bronzer should go along the hairline/upper forehead, just below the cheekbone and just below the jawline. 

Step Three: Blending is super important, especially down the neck. Make sure everything is smoothly blended. If you feel like there's a harsh line that you can't get rid of, try using a little bit of translucent powder to smooth it out.
